Tytus and Sarah-Catherine Moen spend their professional lives thinking about stewardship, generosity, and impact.
Tytus works in financial planning. Sarah-Catherine works in philanthropy and communications. Together, they’re regularly exposed to organizations seeking to create positive change in the world.
So when it came time for the Moens to decide how they would personally invest in nonprofits at work in the Boston metropolitan area and across the globe, they didn’t make the decision lightly.
A model that equips families for lasting change
“We chose to support HOPE because we know that financial means can stimulate change for communities,” Sarah-Catherine says.
What drew the Moens to HOPE was its focus on equipping people to work and create long-term change for themselves. Rather than creating dependency, they see HOPE offering families and communities tools, relationships, and opportunities to build stable futures.
There are a lot of great nonprofits doing great work around the world. But with our background and professional experience in the financial world, we really feel that HOPE is doing incredible work to not only support those in poverty, but to lift them out of poverty.
Where financial empowerment and faith come together
For Tytus, HOPE’s approach aligns with a conviction he’s carried for years—that both material and spiritual transformation matter.
Growing up in a family deeply involved in ministry, Tytus has long considered how believers can share the hope of Christ while also providing services that meet immediate needs. Over time, he was increasingly drawn to models that pair financial empowerment with the hope of the Gospel.
What the Lord started putting in my heart was using business as a means to holistically serve others, not just spiritually, but also physically.
That vision resonates with what he sees in HOPE’s work around the world. Through Bible study, prayer, business loans, training, and a safe place to save, men and women encounter the Good News of the Gospel while gaining tools to provide for themselves and their families.
The Moens’ decision to become Dream Investors and give to HOPE monthly was a natural outflow of those shared convictions.
Monthly giving as long-term partnership
Rather than viewing their giving as occasional generosity, they see it as ongoing partnership. They intentionally build giving into their lives as one way they participate in God’s mission around the world.
That consistency matters because they know transformation rarely happens overnight. Just as entrepreneurs build businesses over time and savings groups steadily work toward their goals, meaningful change often requires patience and long-term commitment.
“When you’re investing to change a community, it takes time,” says Sarah-Catherine.
Being a Dream Investor isn’t necessarily about the size, but more about the consistency and saying, ‘Every month I’m coming to partner with HOPE because I believe that change is over a time span.’
Over time, that commitment has helped the Moens feel connected not only to HOPE’s mission, but also to the people behind the stories they read and hear.
“It makes us feel part of the mission versus just like an outsider supporting HOPE’s work,” Tytus said. “We feel part of the work.”
It’s a perspective shaped by the belief that God calls His people to participate in His work in different ways. Some serve overseas. Some mentor, teach, or advocate. Others leverage the resources God has entrusted to them to support organizations that help people flourish.
