As the possibility of escalated violence between Ukraine and Russia increases, we hold the people of Ukraine in our hearts with grave concern and ask for God’s divine intervention.
And we invite you to join us because we believe in the power of prayer: that God moves when His children ask.
We have a deep love for the people of Ukraine. HOPE International distributed its first loans in Zaporozhye in 1997, and we know that this conflict has concerned HOPE Ukraine staff and clients since 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea and a conflict began in the east of the country.
We hurt with our brothers and sisters in Ukraine who have lived under the shadow of conflict for so long. Yet we trust God, remembering He is all-powerful and all-knowing.
Here are four ways you can pray for Ukraine:
Peaceful resolution and cessation of hostilities
Please pray that the tension with Russia diminishes. As officials from Russia, NATO, and other countries gather to discuss ways to move forward, please ask the Holy Spirit to preside over each meeting and grant clear communication, wisdom to find creative solutions, and humility to accept them. Pray that Russia and Ukraine ultimately move toward reconciliation and peaceful relations.
The people of Ukraine
With Russian troops on the border, Ukrainian people are increasingly burdened with the threat of invasion. Some fear violence, having to leave their homes, or living under a new government.
Pray for the Church in Ukraine, for church leaders as they shepherd their congregations. Pray that their words and actions would reflect God’s love and peace to their surrounding communities.
Please ask God to comfort Ukrainians with His presence; pray for a renewed spirit of courage and wisdom. Pray that many seek Christ and find Him; pray that they experience peace as they give their worries to Him.
HOPE Ukraine and staff
Please lift up HOPE Ukraine’s 12 branch offices and 47 staff members, who are based in various regions around the country. Pray for encouragement and hope as they make contingency plans with their teams and families, especially those in the eastern part of the country where the threat is greatest. Ask God to pour out His guidance and wisdom on loan officers and staff as they continue to serve entrepreneurs and reflect God’s love.
HOPE entrepreneurs and those we serve
With the looming possibility of conflict, many people we serve are holding off on business investments and loans until they have a clearer picture of the future. Many greenhouse farmers living near the Russian border have hesitated to invest in new crops or machinery.
As these business owners navigate this uncertainty, please pray for wisdom and hope for the future.
